It is time to do a little patriotic crafting with your family since the 4th of July is right around the corner. So, grab your red, white, and blue craft supplies and get ready to embrace your inner patriot. From firework shaped confetti poppers to rockets and flags, there are loads of easy patriotic crafts to keep little ones entertained and decorate your home with some meaningful symbols before Independence day is here.
Empty toilet paper tubes become the base of this easy craft. You'll also need:
-
basic white school glue
-
paper – construction or scrapbook papers with patriotic prints are great choices
-
straws
-
embellishments – glitter, sequins, ribbons, pipe cleaners, etc.
1. Start by decorating your tube in any red, white, and blue theme you choose. You can glue a patterned paper around it, cut out tiny paper hearts to attach to it, or embellish with glitter glue.
2. Create your "rocket cap" by cutting out a circle from a piece of colored paper. Then, cut a small slit from the edge halfway through to the center of the circle. This allows you to roll the paper into a cone shape and secure it with glue.
3. Use the glue to attach the caps to the rockets, add a straw "fuse" or even tissue paper "flames" if you want.
4. Place wooden dowels or skewers into the ground and slide the straw over the skewers to line walkways. These little rockets become the cutest decor. You can see some step-by-step directions and photos for inspiration here.
